A rare pair of hand built figures from the period of time, prior to the Tang Dynasty when many of the figures were mold-made. 

The two  bearded  tomb guardian figures representing  Uighurs   living in the Taklamakan dessert region.  Uighurs were  considered outsiders by the Chinese however the military was made up with many cultures and the  dress code depicts an early version of the shoulder padding and chest armor that became more ornamental and pronounced  in the Tang period.

They are un glazed , and show strong unique  distinct character  in their facial features , being hand built of the typical dark mud colored ceramic. The Six Dynasties period takes its name from the six ruling dynasties of the era: the Eastern Wu (222–280), Jin (265–420), Liu Song (420–479), Southern Qi (479–502), Liang (502–557), and Chen (557–589)  This short period of time is why it makes these figures generally much rarer than Tang figures.  

Purchased  by myself in Hong Kong  Bill of Sale with export and TL testing available. 

Condition: complete.  Surface consistent with archeological patination.
